Whenever an application fails to load on an Apple TV box, we tend to clear the cache files as a first solution. Clearing the cache on Apple TV will also improve your device’s performance and free up the storage. However, like the iPhone, you can’t clear the cache on Apple TV for a particular app. However, you can restart the Apple TV 4K to remove the cache files associated with all apps.
To clear the cache of a particular app like Netflix or Hulu, you have to uninstall and re-install it from the App Store. On the other hand, if an application performs slowly, try closing the other apps running in the background.
This article explains the procedures to clear the apps and system cache of all Apple TV models.
How to Clear Cache on Apple TV
While there is no direct option to remove cache files, there are other ways to remove the corrupted cache files from your Apple TV device. Follow the steps below to remove the cache from your Apple TV.
Closing Apps Running in Background
The background running apps also result in loading the bulk of cached data on your Apple TV 4K. Closing these apps will remove the cache files and speed up your device to a certain level.

2. The apps that are running in the background will appear on the screen. Swipe across and select the app you want to close.
3. Now, swipe upward to close the app on your Apple TV.
Uninstall and Reinstall Apps
If you’re facing black screen issues or software glitches on a particular app, it might be due to corrupted cache data. To fix the problem, you can delete the app from your Apple TV box and reinstall it again from the App Store. You can also remove the apps you don’t use to increase the storage space of your Apple TV.
Restart Apple TV
Restarting your Apple TV will help you remove the cache files of your Apple TV. You can manually restart your Apple TV by navigating to Settings and selecting the Restart option under the System settings. This will also help you fix the temporary bugs and software glitches on your Apple TV.

Sometimes, a simple restart won’t effectively clear your Apple TV cache. In that case, you must soft reset your Apple TV. To do this, turn off your Apple TV and unplug it from the power source. Leave it unplugged for 5-10 minutes, and plug your Apple TV into the power source.
Factory Reset Apple TV
The final solution to clear the cache is to factory reset your Apple TV. Restoring your Apple TV to the factory setting will remove all your user data, apps, customization, and cache files. Use this solution only when other methods don’t work. To do so, go to Settings > System > Reset.
